【Taiwan Clusters

The Taiwanese clusters mainly consist of SMEs, Taiwan’s essential role in business, and also other organisations, such as research centres, universities and business incubators. They often develop a science or industrial park to fulfill the needs of a strategic sector and dynamise the regional economy. The clusters, therefore, improve the deep specialisation of Taiwan's high-tech industry and help build a great variety of businesses. Also, industrial associations play a critical role in boosting international collaboration through clusters.

Taiwan’s Green Industry

  • Sustainable Goals and Policies in Taiwan
In line with the ambitious goals of the Green Deal, Taiwan has adopted policies to curb climate change by cutting carbon emissions down to 50% of the 2005 levels by the year 2050. Taiwan is moving towards the development of green energy technologies and a sustainable circular economy. Its industries are advancing towards higher rates of resource recycling and high-quality products with constant improvement and sustainable economic development.

  •  Green Energy
Offshore wind-power generation: To achieve the goal of 3GW wind power by 2025, the government is aggressively implementing the ‘thousand wind turbines’ project utilising the Taiwan Strait, one of the world’s best offshore wind sites.
Solar Panel Program: Taiwan is the world’s second-largest producer of solar cells and one of the leading solar wafer-and module-makers in the world

  • Circular Economy
In Taiwan, a win-win circular economy framework has been implemented effectively to address environmental pollution and create economic value, which is different from the “take-make-waste” traditional, linear model (Source: MOST).

  • Green Transport
Taiwan tops the world in motorcycle density. The electric scooter e-Moving won an award for its low carbon emission and high energy efficiency. Made-in-Taiwan bicycles, such as U-Bikes, which have become part of Taipei's transportation means, have also made Taipei a much more environmentally friendly city. Travelling green not only benefits the planet but also helps your wallets. Taiwan's experience in green mobility can inspire the world (Source: GTPO).

    【Taiwan’s ICT Industry】

  • Taiwan has long enjoyed an excellent reputation for its strong ICT industry base and its related capabilities. For many years, Taiwan has had an extremely high market share across major global ICT product segments, with dozens of its products holding the top position in terms of worldwide shipment volume.
At the same time, Taiwan occupies a strategic economic position in Asia, and its ICT industry cluster possesses not only significant competitive advantages but also a complete supply chain. Taiwanese companies generally have rich manufacturing experience and outstanding technologies, making Taiwan an important hub and indispensable strategic partner for Europe and North America, as well as emerging markets in the Asia-Pacific region.
In addition, Taiwanese manufacturers possess impressive manufacturing capabilities, enabling them to operate on a global scale. A complete upstream and downstream industry chain further gives Taiwan a demonstrable advantage in the production of Netcom chips, components, touch panels, and system integration, with full mastery of the key components. For many years, Taiwan has held a pivotal position in the global trade of IT products and ICT industry deployment. It, thus, provides an ideal testing ground to advance ICT applications and foster innovation for future, high-quality lifestyles.
    Taiwan's Advantageous Green Technologies

In 2021, Taiwan will focus on six major sectors: "PV", "Energy Storage", "Electric Vehicles", "Wind Power", "Water Treatment" and "Green Building Materials". You can obtain more information about theme-based digital maps for the green industry from the Green Trade Project Office’s website. This map could help foreign clients understand the roles of Taiwan's green industry companies and their main product offerings (Source: GTPO).
